We sell your pre-owned jewelry and get you what it’s worth.

Pricing and Payments

How much will this cost me?

We take a 15% commission of the total sale price we achieve for your jewelry. That commission includes all shipping, restoration, and appraisal costs. There are absolutely no hidden fees when you sell with us.

How long is this whole process and when do I get paid?

The total process takes five business days after we receive your jewelry. You get paid at the end of the fifth day. So if we receive your jewelry on Monday, you will have your money by Friday!

How do I get paid?

We offer a few options for payment: we can send you a secure electronic payment to your bank account, a paper check in the mail, or a PayPal transfer.

What if I change my mind after I send you my jewelry?

There is no obligation when selling with us. If you feel unsatisfied, we’ll send your jewelry back to you, no questions asked, with a free cleaning! The return shipping is free.

Shipping/pick-ups

Is it safe to send my jewelry through the mail?

Yes! When you decide to sell with us, we send you packaging specially built to absorb any physical damage during shipping. And because we fully insure your jewelry up to $5 million, it’s just as safe in the mail as it is in your drawer at home.

What do I do with the package once I’m ready to send it?

Simply go to your local UPS store and drop it off. The packaging comes with a pre-paid shipping label attached. The package is fully insured.

How do you know how much to insure my jewelry for before I’ve sent it?

Before we send you the packaging, you fill out a request form that gives us all the information we need to value your jewelry for insurance purposes. As a rule, we insure your jewelry for more than we value it just to be safe.

Is shipping and insurance free?

Yes, shipping and insurance is always free.

Can I track my package while it’s being shipped?

Yes, we give you a tracking number, so you can track your package during transit. Your personal sales agent will contact you the moment we receive your jewelry at our headquarters.

Can you arrange for my jewelry to be picked up?

We offer free pick-up for any order worth more than $3,000. We’ll send a secure truck to your home to pick up the items and ship them to us free of charge. Give us a call at 888-818-9890 to set up a pickup.

Where are you located?

We are located in the heart of NYC at 347 W 36th St, New York, NY, 10018.

Do you accept customers from outside the US?

Yes, we accept jewelry from Canada. Currently, due to high shipping/insurance costs, we are only accepting select pieces from our european customers.

Selling

How does the sales process work?

Our dedicated sales team contacts our network of jewelry stores (2,500 around the country) electronically with your jewelry. They then negotiate with the highest bidders, so you get the highest possible price. We never start selling your jewelry without first contacting you.

How is this different from consignment?

When you consign your jewelry, it sits on a website or in a jewelry store, waiting for someone to come along and buy it. Jewelry can take over a month (and sometimes up to six months!) to sell.

At I Want What It’s Worth, we actively sell your items to jewelry stores who need jewelry now and are willing to pay for it.   By getting bids from hundreds of stores, we typically get a much higher price for your item than you would if you consigned it. Also, we guarantee to sell your item within five days of receiving it.

Does every item sell?

98% of all jewelry we receive sell within five days. If your jewelry does not sell, we guarantee to buy it from you for the price we appraise it at, or send it back to you free of charge, your choice.

How do I know if my piece has sold?

Once you fill out our sell jewelry form, your personal sales agent will contact you and keep you updated throughout the whole process--from its shipment to its final sale. Once your jewelry sells, you will receive an email asking you which payout method you prefer.

Do you contact me before you start selling my jewelry?

Yes, We contact you when we receive your jewelry and before we start the restoration/selling process. We never make any permanent changes to your jewelry or do any selling without first consulting you.

Appraisal & Restoration

What is an appraisal and how accurate is it?

An appraisal is when our expert gemologists inspect your jewelry to determine its value. We use this appraisal amount as the minimum bid we will accept for your jewelry.

What is involved in a restoration?

Whatever it takes to make your jewelry sparkle like it’s brand new! Restorations greatly increase the value of your jewelry by making them look better to prospective buyers.

Do you charge for restoration and appraisal?

All of our services are included in our 15% commission, which means we NEVER charge you any fees when we sell your jewelry.

Do you restore every piece of jewelry before it’s sold?

Yes, even if your jewelry is in near perfect condition, we still put it through a thorough cleaning.
